
The Biggest Updates From Shopify’s Winter 24 Edition
Shopify is constantly bringing out new updates and features to their platform to enhance and improve all elements of merchants online stores. Twice a year, they bundle up all of their updates into one big round up known as Shopify Editions.
At the end of January, Shopify released their Winters 24 Edition, covering over 100 new updates. That’s right, over 100! These updates provide new features across various business elements, from marketing to web development to operations, there’s something to improve and enhance all aspects of your online store.

Shopify Magic
We’ve previously talked about Shopify’s AI tools, but their Shopify Magic update has revealed more AI-powered features to enhance merchants’ online stores and improve their business operations. First up, merchants have the opportunity to transform their product imagery into professional photos with new AI image editing capabilities. With a few choice keywords and a click of a button, images can be instantly generated or edited to whatever the merchant desires.
Merchants can also ask Shopify Magic to write new pages or product descriptions for them to speed up the content creation process. And with Sidekick, Shopify’s AI-assistant, merchants will have access to a Shopify expert 24/7, right at their fingertips.

Semantic Search
Exclusive only to Shopify Plus users, the new Semantic Search feature is a game-changer. It uses AI-powered search features to better understand what a customer is looking for based on the words and phrases they type. For example, if a customer searches for ‘warm clothes to wear in winter’, AI-tools will determine which products to show to provide richer and more relevant results. And better yet, it’s available to try right now!

Web Performance Dashboard
Shopify’s new web performance dashboard is a godsend for merchants who want to keep a close eye on their storefront performance. The dashboard provides insights into three core web vitals: loading speed, interactivity, and visual stability. This way, merchants can fine-tune their site for optimum performance.
Shopify App Comparisons
Choosing the right Shopify app for your store can sometimes be difficult as there’s so many different things to take into account to ensure you’re choosing the right one. Now, with Shopfiy’s latest update, this is all a breeze with their new comparison feature. Merchants can compare up to 4 apps at once, getting an overview of app reviews, key features, pricing, and more.

Combined Listings
For stores that sell products in multiple variants (colours, styles, patterns etc) to display these previously required developers to build custom functionality on stores. Shopify’s new feature however allows the creation of a parent product listing with the multiple variations within it. Each variation has its own URL, images, and description, providing a seamless experience and easier solution to upload different product types.

Shopify Subscriptions
Selling products as subscriptions through Shopify has been possible for a while however it previously involved using a third-party app. Now, however, merchants can add subscriptions directly to their store, allowing them to sell products on a recurring basis. This simplifies the process considerably and allows customers to sign up for a repeat delivery of their favourite product at the click of a button.
